„At Silhouette, I have continuously improved myself.“
The best thing about my job
I construct frame components and tools, program the machines and then use the milling cutter to produce workpieces precisely to the hundredth of a millimeter. When the end product is then finished and all tolerances have been adhered to, that is a very good feeling.
In my job I have to be extremely precise and work neatly. Spatial sense and logical thinking are also important, but precision is absolutely essential. As previously mentioned, it is all down to the hundredth of a millimeter.
I started at Silhouette International in 1986 as a trainee in tool manufacturing technology. After that, I attended the industrial foreman school for mechanical engineering and operating technology. The company then gave me the opportunity to train to be an NC technician, after which I completed my vocational training (Berufsreifeprüfung) and that of CAD construction engineer. Thanks to all the training and work experiences I have had in the company, I now have a good overview of the workflow related to eyewear production and tools. That is a great advantage in this job.
