„I get to work on products that are sold around the world.“
My job at Silhouette International
I work in the design office at Silhouette International. We receive the design specifications from the design department and use them to create a 3D model of the eyewear. Once this model has been checked and found to be OK, we then construct the injection molds. We also extrapolate from the drawings for the mold and die production, for example, or do the programming for the CNC machines. What is really special about this is that we are working on products that will be sold all over the world.
My job history
I have been at Silhouette International for more than 10 years now. At first I trained to be a tool manufacturing engineer, then I switched to plastic mold and die production while attending the professional academy for manufacturing technology and production management. One of the main areas was design. Immediately after that I started working in the design office, where I received special training for our CAD program.
The most important thing in my job
The single most important thing is to have a very good spatial sense … actually, that is the prerequisite for my job.
