The name Silhouette stands for the power of an innovative idea.
In 1964, Arnold und Anneliese Schmied founded what today is the worldwide company Silhouette International Schmied AG. Inspired by the idea of positioning glasses as a fashion accessory, they were the first to create frames that combined the very highest quality standards, extraordinary wearing comfort and trendy design.
With this courageous step towards fashion eyewear, the young company embarked on an entirely original course. Silhouette focused on the production of top-quality models, which often could only be crafted by hand.
The enterprise’s customary attentiveness and love of detail endow the frames with their unique functionality and incomparably trend lines.
